Scott McCurry- Vox/Guitar/Harmonica
Scott McCurry and his band are an electrifying lineup that have embodied the rock n’ roll spirit onto a new generation.

“...a throwback of sorts to the glory days of ‘80s college radio, McCurry and band at times sound like they’re playing English pop with an American Accent… entertaining tunes and a new, yet familiar, sound.”- K. Oliver (Free Times- southcarolinaarts.com)

Scott has just recently released his third record, a six song EP entitled “Birdies Don’t Bark”, and has been bringing raucous, energy-filled live performances to beer-swilling audiences across the country, for the past five years. From underground clubs in Dallas and New York to the celebrity-studded Sundance Film Festival in Utah, Scott has earned a loyal fan base abroad. So much so, that Scott was just recently named as a top new artist to watch by Clear Channel’s New! Discover Music.

The ‘Koozies’ was Scott’s first band experience and he quickly proved to new audiences that he could not only write smart, quirky lyrics and catchy tunes, but also perform on-stage. The band’s first release, “seeing through bleu ink”, helped launch Scott firmly into the Texas music scene.

Scott's second album "Like the Sun", is just that; sunny and upbeat, filled with songs you’re happy to let bounce around in your head all day. Songs like “Oh no” with the addicting guitar and harmonica melody echo sounds of Bob Dylan, while other tracks like “Dr. Doctor” pump out a fusion of method that can rival even today's most progressive artists. Thanks to a distribution deal with Target and Sam’s Club, Scott’s “Like the Sun” helped jettison him on the national level and was named as one of America’s Best Independent Artists.

In terms of musical evolution, the path this band has embarked would garner approval from musical purists as well as Mr. Darwin himself. All this evident by the presence of legendary, and veteran music producer, Elliot Mazer. After 30 years of having worked with the likes of Neil Young, The Band, Pete Townshend, and Janis Joplin, Mazer decided to put his golden, or more appropriately, platinum touch, to the band's latest studio effort as Executive Producer, as well as signing Scott to his newly formed label, Left Turn Music. While according to Mazer, the phrase "Birdies Don't Bark" is an arguable statement, there is absolutely no argument when it comes to the quality of "Birdies Don't Bark" as an album. While at times, one can get lost in trance-inducing melodies, reminiscent of bands such as The Animals, or say the Troggs, at the drop of hat can be transformed into the beautiful alternative instrumentation that makes bands such as Wilco and Sonic Youth so electrifying and important.

With the addition of a wonderful new six-piece-line-up, Scott and company will enter the studio this summer to put together Scott’s first full length record in quite some time. With five years worth of demos in waiting, the new album will be the first of many to be released in the near future. The new record will be introducing many new sounds and styles and is promised to be the best work yet.

A little about the band…

"..The Scott McCurry Band is comprised of so much genre-bending talent, it’s a feast for the ears." (Hardbeat Magazine Online, May '08)

Drew North- Synthesizer/Keys/Organ/Guitar

Drew is a multi-instrumentalist born in Dallas Texas, as well as a highly talented studio engineer and designer. His main gig is synthesizer, keyboards, and guitar (although he loves to play any instrument he can get his hands on). With his collection of vintage and off-beat instruments, he packs a serious musical punch. Drew has just finished designing and building "The Track", a world-class recording studio in Plano Texas. He resides at The Track as head producer and chief engineer. Drew not only helps contribute as a wonderful original musician, he is equally as talented in the studio with a very unique touch at recording as well.

Valenti- Drums/ Vocals

Valenti is an extremely talented musician who brings audacious energy to the drums. Valenti is an old school funk guy who cites James Brown, Prince, Rick Ruben, Dr. Dre, and Stevie Wonder as his main influences. Valenti is also a multi-instrumentalist who plays bass, keys, and produces hip hop and R&B tracks. Just recently, he has started experimenting with his voice and has begun to add a very nice touch to the group’s harmonies. Valenti was born on Valentines Day (Hence the name Valenti) in Dallas and was raised in Irving. He learned how to play drums along side his mother in Church and in the high school marching band; he gave up sports to peruse his musical ambitions.

Q- Bass

Who is Q? (QuietSoul) Q hails from Detroit, MI (Motown baby yeah!!!) and stays true to his jazzy, funky ass musical roots. He's a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass and piano) who is also a talented songwriter/producer. So far, his accomplishments include producing the track "Theygottahaveit" for Detroit hip-hop artist Poetic Menace, which was featured in actor/comedian Pierre's movie, "For The Love Of Money". The song also garnered a lot of press in the Detroit area and put a Detroit Music Award nomination under his belt. A self-proclaimed "studio rat", Q loves the creative process. In fact, he just recently decided to take a break from it all to contribute his talents on bass to the Scott McCurry Band, which is generating quite a buzz in and around the Dallas area. So, just sit back and relax. For there will be much more to come from QSoul!

Jimmy Gutierrez - percussion

Keisha is a magnificent singer from Dallas, Texas. Keisha has brought new life to the group’s sound. Her soulful and powerful vocals have added a very rich element to the band.
